Book Review: Celebrity Obituaries 2023

Harris Lentz III has been compiling annual books of showbiz obituaries for decades, and since he has been independently publishing them, he has more freedom as to inclusion, length, and photos. His latest, covering those who died in 2023, is filled with information for even the most obscure performers in films, music, TV, sports entertainment, etc.

Of course, the book has much info on top celebs whom we lost that year, including Matthew Perry, Tony Bennett, Raquel Welch, Suzanne Somers, and Sinead O’Connor.  But in its nearly 500 pages we also get info on the likes of Cindy Morgan from Tron and Caddyshack, Richard Romanus from Mean Streets, wrestler Terry Funk, comic book artist Steve Erwin, musician Randy Meisner of The Eagles, and child actor Rory Stevens, among many others.

This book is indispensable for researchers, as all of these books have been.  Just relying on the limited information from the internet is not nearly sufficient enough.  Harris delves deeply, gathers nearly 1400 celebrities, and provides a strong amount of info on each. 

Celebrity Obituaries 2023 is a book that belongs in any library, research center, or personal collection of anyone who does research on media history.  It is a valuable resource filled with important information.
